Updates

Sorry I haven't really been posting lately. Life has been very busy! Korey and I are both doing quite well in school. He seems alright with his classes, IF the teachers are keeping their words and actually teaching him academics, NOT life skills.

He's been really rambunctious lately though, screaming at such a high pitch! I, myself, am used to his screaming so it doesn't bother me TOO much. But he's always jumping around the house, weaving in and out through various rooms and screaming at the top of his lungs. And then he bursts out laughing, saying "Funny!" Hmm. I suppose he's just enjoying life, like we all should be doing. I just wish he would take it down an octave ;)

School Picture Day: SUCCESS.

Well picture day was a couple of weeks ago, and we just got Korey's pictures back. IT WAS PERFECT! Whoever that photographer was did a really nice job! Korey's face is so vibrant and happy. There's even a twinkle in his eye (as corny as that sounds.) It's the most perfect picture I have ever seen of him! It's amazing.

Thank you Woodside Photography!

Heartbreaking.

I just read this article on a kid who got voted out of his elemenatary school class! He's autistic, and this article is truly...umimaginable for myself. It's about teachers who are physically abusing kids with autism and using restraints...even resorting to shoving them into a closet for the whole day!

AND THEN WHAT WAS EVEN WORSE, WAS TO READ THE COMMENTS PEOPLE POSTED. I couldn't believe it. Some were really nasty, some were understanding. One that especially angered me was someone who said they thought the newspaper publisher was bored of storm/flood news, so they posted this article. They figured "Oh, the storm news is getting tired. Let's just put this article up!" This person made it sound like this article was not an important issue; that it was just used as a filler. UGH! I am disgusted with some of these comments, and the teachers who did this to these kids. If this happened with a ''normal'' kid, everyone would be defending him/her! But since it is about a developmentally disabled kid, no one gives a crap?

Here is a link to the article & its comments:

Tell me what you think please.

Hurricane Days.

Well, Tropical Storm Fay passed over us today. Which meant no school. Korey and I were a tad bit disappointed, but enjoyed the day off. He was really hyper today, jumping and screaming a lot! Eh, but I guess that's normal hehe.

Anyways, so not much has been going on. Everything is the same; besides the fact we have school now. I'll post as soon as anything changes :)

School [II]

Well school started on August 18th (this past Monday.) My first day was absolutely fantastic! I didn't get lost at all and my teachers are wonderful. Thanks to all who crossed their fingers for me :)

Korey's day went fairly well it seems. Those teachers at his high school are total asses (excuse my language.) They don't want to teach him anything academic. It is extremely ridiculous! My mom has been fighting so hard for Korey this past year (his freshman year.) The ESE department over at CHS is totally insane and idiotic. They want to put Korey in a corner and pretend he's not there. Why, do you ask, they do not want to teach my poor brother? BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE WORK! AND HOW DARE A TEACHER TEACH THEIR STUDENTS? Ugh. Those teachers just make me sick! I wish Korey could transfer, but they should not be allowed to simply run away from their problems. Korey is a human being and a teenager who should be granted his public education like any other person would. Why must people think that disabled people are stupid or can't comprehend anything. That is a load of crap, and they know it! Arg. Breathe Kileigh, breathe.

I'm sorry for my vent. I shall stop now from rambling/venting out this horrid anger. ♥
